Global Scale of English (GSE)

The Global Scale of English (GSE) is the first truly global English language standard that enables teachers to measure and track student progress more accurately and easily.

Based on research involving more than 6,000 teachers from over 50 countries, this method of measuring English language level sets a scale of 10 to 90 for what needs to be done for each of the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The GSE, therefore extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which sets levels at A1-C2, the level usually adopted in language education, and provides a more comprehensive tracking of students.
